Dutch Wadden Weekend



he Dutch Wadden (The mud’s) and Zuider Zee are by far the places to be to enjoy Dutch nature and wildlife. Since ancient times these seas were sailed by the sail ships known as "Bruine Vloot". In the old days to transport cargo, yet nowadays anyone can sign on to sail along on these magnificant ships. We invite on a unique journey where you enjoy both the Wadden and the Zuyder Zee. And what would be better than to experience the trip to Terschelling-Island when the sun is setting. Sailing on the authentic Dutch two-mast sail ship 'Vliegende Draeck', enjoying the sea, wind and freedom while a true Dutch meal is being prepared for you. You spend the night on board the Vliegende Draeck in or in front of the port of Terschelling . The next morning you can enjoy a steady breakfast before you start your adventure on the island. Whether you choose to explore nature on foot, by bicycle to the many activities the island has to offer. In the evening you will set sail for another wonderful island: Vlieland where the ship may easily 'fall dry'on a sand bank. So for those of you who bring their boots; You can walk to shore, or at least around the ship. The next morning the ship sets sail for the Zuiderzee, also known as the IJsselmeer, using the sluice of Kornwerderzand and on the way back to Harlingen you will see the picturesque town of Makkum. Back in Harlingen we say our goodbyes and hope you had a wonderful trip
TThe Dutch Wadden en Zuider Zee trip can be booked almost every weekend during the summer season. You board the two-mast Clipper "Vliegende Draeck" on Friday evening at 1700 or 1900 and settle in your huts before the ship sets sail for Terschelling. During the sail you can enjoy a steady ships mate meal while enjoying the sun setting over de Dutch Wadden sea. In our ships bar you are welcome for drinks. That evening you will arrive at the Frisian Isle: Terschelling and for those of you who have the desire and energy, Terschelling has plenty to offer at night time also. The next morning you wake up to a steady breakfast and after this you get to explore the island. Prior to the trip you can ask us to arrange specific activities for you. At 1600 hours we set sail again via the Dutch Wadden to the next Isle: Vlieland. We intend to fall dry for the night on one of the sand banks or perhaps the Captain will choose a nice spot on anchor for the night. Close to the coastline of course. The next morning you are up for a long sail to the Zuiderzee. You pass the sluice of Kornwerderzand where you can visit the unique "Kazemattenmuseum" (Casemate museum). The captain can anchor for a swim and/or visit the town of Makkum. Around 1600 hours you will have the harbour of Harlingen back in your sights. At 1700 we say our goodbyes to one another and crew and the trip is ended.
Included in this trip are two simple dinners, two breakfasts, a lunch and two overnights in two and four person huts. This trip can be offered at a spectacular rate of Euro 239,00 per adult and Euro 179,00 per child under the age of twelve.
